out of curiosity, where exactly does the oil travel ? - wicking up between the wires in the harness? - Or does it somehow get amongst the WIRE strands, inside the insulating sheath and travel up and into the ECU plug?
It'll run ok down a cylinder, even 2 however power and economy will be down.
if its oil in the harness you can kill the ECU cleaning out the harness plug every couple of hours is good insurance against this.
if the oil contamination gets too bad you can run completely out of cylinders unless its "dire emergancy" i strongly reccomend pulling over and stopping.

I'm in Melbourne's east - 2 hrs from Heyfield. I have a Hawkeye and a New loom, but I'm working over the w/end & New Year's eve.
I'm happy to loan the Hawkeye and sell the loom @ cost price if it gets you out of a bind. PM me if you need either and can arrange a pick up.

it gets into the wire at the joints on the injectors or the plug in the underside of the head it then gets into the engine side of the loom harness and travels up the core of the wires between the copper and insulation of the wire.
From when I did a service on big red as soon as the oil turns up on the injector harness plug you have <5K Km before it hits the ECU of a defer probably less for a disco.

Hopefully if Rangieman can pick up the loom from Michael2 on his way up to where I am looks like I will be back in the High Country. Really appppreciate the comments and offers for help. I have sent Michael2 a pm so hopefully the holes in the cheese will line up.
Regards

Happy ending to the story. Land Rover knights in shining armor, Rangieman and Michael2 combined effort means the Disco can dance again in the mountains.
New loom fitted, although I nearly bricked the Disco by dropping a sirclip into the head. Extracated by magnetic screw driver after a few terse words to oneself.
Now hopefully catch up wih friends and tackle Mt Blue Rag track.
A huge thankyou to michael2 for the loom and Rangieman for going out of his way to play courier and get the loom to me in Heyfield. An awsome effort.
Also a big thanks to those that answered my cry for help and gave advice so I didn't do anything stupid.
I love the way members of this site band together.
Sorry no pics as i am using my phone to access the site.
Thanks again.
