Injector Problem?
Hi.
I have a 1999 TDI Freelander. It is getting to the stage where the engine will not rev over about 3000 RPM. It revs quite freely to that speed then just hangs there. Could it be dirty injectors or maybe a "tired" fuel pump.
Any assistance appreciated.
Regards.
Mike

when was the fuel filter last changed?
Is it bringing on the engine check light at these RPMs?
There is a screen in the injector pump supply banjo fitting that can get blocked, Need to check this is not blocked.
Does the engine sound rattly at these RPMs?

Have someone press the accelerator pedal to the floor and check the lever on the injector pump is going full travel. I have seen heaps of stretched accelerator cables on other vehicles.

Work through the simple solutions before jumping in for the big, complicated ones...
* Air filter.
* Throttle (it is fly-by-wire).
* Air hoses (collapsing/delaminating).
* Fuel filter.
