G'day all!
Spotted the dreaded firewall rust the other day... done some quick research on the forum and found the following:
Steel for firewall repairs
Dave S appeared to have a similar symptom.
doing the bulkhead!!!!
Lardy strips down to the firewall.
Firewall replacement
Flagg talking about stripping down to the firewall, good posts from Lotz-a-Landies and Muddymech on what you do/don't have to remove.
I'm going to have to tackle this after our next road trip (Easter), as I don't think I'll have spare weekend/night-time hours to get it done beforehand. I think my plan will be to expose as much of the firewall first to assess how much rust is there. Would I be correct in assuming that if it's not too bad, it can be repaired in-place?
Any advice or comments welcome.
Cheers!
Michael

Make sure you check the bottom of the firewall where it meets the chassis.
Otherwise pull the hinge off, door seal off, maybe door.
Looks fixable in situ but I'd be careful to check any suspicious looking bits too.
It's odd how it is a hole through the steel yet hasn't spread too far.
