    Auto Trans Leak

My TD5 Disco has developed an auto trans leak.
The mechanic figures it is coming from between bellhousing and auto.
Have to rebook it in in a couple of weeks so they can take it apart properly.
Fortunately it is a small leak and only occurs when driving. It is a real pain to keep an eye on the fluid levels without a dipstick.
I had a new transmission put in about 30K ago.
What could be causing this leak?

Is the mechanic who is currently looking at it the one who fitted the new transmission? Was there a warranty with the replacement transmission?

So the leak is producing red oil and not black?

Make sure the trans cooler pipes haven't been over tightened & split as the pipes seal on a rib on the pipe itself & sometimes crack.

Also they have a common habit of springing a leak from the front cover/ pump housing to main case gasket. It is just a paper thin gasket, literally.

No a different shop is looking at it, I have lost my trust in the original mechanics that fitted the new transmission. Yes it had a warranty but is out of warranty - had a look at the paper work and it is 18months and 50K since the change over.

Yes it is red, and I have had to top up the fluid as well. The engine oil level has not changed.
