Thread: Black Smoke??

Hey guys and girls,

I recently spent the day crusing the sand dunes, this was the first time i have put my 96 v8 petrol/gas Disco under serious high revs. After about half an hour or so it seemed to be blowing out dark black smoke from the exhaust. whether idling or reving the black smoke was there. Any advice or diagnosis will be very helpful.

Check the IAC valve on the back of the plenum (if equipped) see if it is loose or dirty seat and plunger, and check and clean MAF plug, Regards Frank.
