    Second set of tyres

    Hi All,

I am looking to get a second set of tyres for my defender, I currently have a set of 255x85x16 BFG KM2 on Zu rims. Due to a baby arriving in May all big trips are off for a year, I envisage that the next 25k will probably be commuting to Brisbane from the Gold Coast and I do not want to waste these tyres on the bitumen, therefore I will put boosts back on, only thing is the GG's on them are getting low on tread so I will need to replace them.

I was hoping to get something relatively inexpensive compared to the KM2.
Has anyone heard of Runway Enduro tyres ? Runway EnduroAT 265/75R16LT are selling on the site below for $209

These seem cheap and maybe they are rubbish but any advice would be appreciated, also any alternative too would be great.

I know tyres choice is very personal, I am just looking for something that is value for money, can do the motorway and the odd trip to Fraser Island and I will stick them back in the shed in a year if there is any tread on them.

Also any advice on storing tyres in my shed? Is it best to wrap them in film or not necessary?

    thanks
    Pat

If you intend to wear them out on road. Why go so wide?

Get some 235/85's and you'll likely save fuel too.

Because the 235's where an extra $40 each on the tyre quoted, I have no issues with the 235, just looking for the cheaper option of the 2 sizes combined with a decent tyre.

    cheers.

    Federal an option?

I bought these to run as spares, and haven't had to use them at all yet, but might be an option for you???

    Federal Couragia A/T | All Terrain 4x4 Tyre | 70% Road & Sand, 30% Dirt & Mud

I paid $210 a tyre (235/85R16) which was about $50 per tyre less than the 'list'/RRP price.

Maybe you should have a look at this thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/wheels-tyr...35-85-r16.html

Buy these wheels and tyres, sell your boost rims with the worn tyres for $50 ea and you've got yourself a set of really cheep, almost new, pretty good tyres.

I'd be buying them if they were in Sydney.
