    Wiring Diagram

    Hey there people,

I know I am new to Land Rover, but I would appreciate if anyone would have a wiring diagram for the ignition/coil/dizzie set-up for a 93-94 V8i...?

    Would be greatly needed...

Buy the Haynes manual for a start. spend time reading the diagrams. you can buy a CD from someone on here, but I prefer the book, I can look at it while waiting at the shops for SWMBO.

you buy a haynes to work out landrover anything and when you come round and ask for help to understand them or to fix up something that has not gone right and I will use the book to bludgen you with.

you can buy the proper stuff on the Rave CD's and for the olderstuff that cant be found or worked out from the Raves can be purchased from the shop on here...

They haynes manuals are not worth their weight in fetid dog turds.

I have in the past had to use them to find out the Torque value of various nuts and bolts (I dont just work on landies sometimes owners supply them as "workshop manuals"). Someone without a sound underpinning mechanical knowledge to ring alarmbells of the "that cant possibly be right" variety could easily get into a world of hurt if they blindly follow a haynes.

If you buy nothing else genuine for your landy for the love of your vehicle please buy download or steal the correct maintenance manuals.

you can ask someone else to explain the severity of the following statement.

"I would recommend that you buy brit part parts before I recommend buying a haynes manual for a landrover."
    Dave

"In a Landrover the other vehicle is your crumple zone."

For spelling call Rogets, for mechanicing call me.

All of this aside, there are only two important wires to the coil and two to the distributor also connected to the coil. (asuming this one is a vee belt model) The plain white wire is +12V from the ignition switch to coil positive and the ignition module. The white wire with a black stripe is the ECU pulse sensor and goes to the ECU via a resistor and a white/blue stripe wire. This wire also connects the negative side of the coil to the ignition amplifier.

Now if you have a '94 serpentine belt engine the wires to the dissy are blue and red for the pickup, and an earth wire. The coil is wired to the amp next to the coil. Blue and red trigger the amp.

And lastly if waht you are trying to do is make it run with a stuffed Lucas ignition amp/module, you can easily rewire to take a Bosch BIM024 module, available at all good auto shops for a lot less than a dodgy Lucas part or imitation thereof.

Good grief. While that is an extremely strong statement it is a warning not to be ignored.

Haynes Manuals , what a joke, you'll be doing a job on your vehicle, following the Haynes manual and you will come to a section of the job, the reason you bought the ****in' manual in the first place, and it says "refer to Manufacturers Workshop Manual".
If you have a Haynes, here's a tip, paint it green and throw it into some tall grass.
You can buy the "Original Land Rover Discovery Disco Workshop Manual up to end of 94MY) from Pitstop Books in Perth, was $60 when I bought mine and they have every possible wiring diagram to suit your model, Regards Frank.

Yeah the other beauty is "this job requires specialist tools and equipment, it is advisable to have this done by an authorised dealer"

When I got my RRC it had a Haynes manual in the front seat - the wiring diagrams are the most useless, as it didn't even have the right diagram for my car despite it being in the right year range for the manual.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
