Part number help oring PAS pump
Hi all, trying to find part number for the little oring in the metal "stub" pipe which exits the PAS pump in the TD5 Disco2 at the bottom of the pump. The pipe is the one to which the hose which goes between the reservoir and the pump connects (the u-bend pipe which has a habit of rubbing through against the bottom of the engine block). Anyway, it's the little oring which seals the metal "stub" pipe to the main body of the pump which I need. All the diagrams I've found leave out that section...it might well be considered to be part of the pump itself but it's easy to get to by removing two 10mm (head size) bolts on a plate which draws the pipe up against the pump housing. If I have o I'll take it out and go to a hydraulic shop but would love a part number if anyone has the ability to find one.

Well the dealers are once more considered by me to be less than useful. Phone conversation something like this:
"looking for an oring for the TD5 Disco 2000 to seal the join for the little stub pipe at the bottom of the PAS pump to the pump"
"yep, I see the area in my parts diagram but there is no stub pipe and no oring"
"umm I'm pretty sure there is one as I have had it out twice now"
"no there are hose clamps holding the two pipes to the pump"
"actually if you have the diagram for the defender TD5 it shows two hose clamps I think but the discovery one just shows a hose and blank space between it and the pump. In that blank space is where the stub pipe, oring and 2 10mm bolts are to join the pipe to the pump"
"oh I have the correct diagram now and sorry but no there is still no stub pipe in that location but I can sell you some hose clamps which will do the job"
"no they won't because there is no way that the hose can clamp to the flat surface of the pump, it clamps to a stub pipe and the pipe is bolted to the pump with an oring seal"
"sorry sir there is no oring. Do you want to try taking the car to a power steering specialist, I can recommend one for you"
"no I'd rather buy the part for my Landrover from the main Brisbane Landrover dealer to whose parts department I'm now taking"
"sorry sir I don't have any such part available".
I gave up, went to the local parts shop and found an 80 cent generic oring to fit. Why did I even try the dealer???

i used to have a subaru liberty, and went to the local dealer to get some bits for a head gasket change, part of which i needed 2 exhaust manifold gaskets
first of all they (parts departments) are useless without a vin number to 'get into the system' even if you have a part number
then i was told 'nah mate, they don't have an exhaust manifold gasket, it is built into the manifold itself, if it is worn you will need a new exhaust manifold'
such a load of crap since i had just removed the said gaskets an hour or 2 before
i ended up looking up the part number on a japanese subaru parts site (a bit like microcat, exploded diagrams and all that) i found the part number, and when receiving the gaskets i told the guy that he had told me they don't exist, all i got was a blank stare! no acknowledgement at all, or common sense it seems!
