    Power steering failure 89 RRC

Can anyone advise on symptoms of loss of pressure from the power steering pump - is it simply heavy steering effort with no self centering or is their more to the diagnostics? Trying to avoid replacing box as well as pump if I can pin it down to one of them. No other symptoms, no noises or fluid loss.

Check the universal joints in the lower steering column. A seized joint can cause this. Another thing to check is that you haven't whacked the steering damper.
It would be unusual for a steering box to become heavy without loss of fluid etc, unless the input shaft to the pump has sheared.
