    Sally Anne died after Corowa

G'day all, well got home from Corowa without a single hint of dramas. Drove to work Monday no dramas, then off to lunch, nothing. Fuel pump was cavitating so I pulled it out and cleaned it and it seems fine now. (BLKnightAus, once again that fuel pump access cover has proven priceless, you mech genius) Conducted the priming sequence as per the manual but no dice. New fuel filter on, cut open the old one and had a peek, dirty dirty dirty. I know fuel is getting up the top, there is heaps of power to turn over but no rumble. I currently have the injector harness out being metho treated, the loom to the CPU is being treated too.

I know my fuel pressure regulator is dripping and am awaiting parts, however the fuel is still going through it.

    FYI, 2003 TD5 130.

So what I am looking for is ideas and options before my begging patrol mate gets his photo opportunity to haul Sally Anne's big bum to the spanners.

    Cheers Easo

When you turn the key to on is the fuel pump going quiet fairly quickly?
If not it may need another bleed.

If you are doing the bleed method of key on/off/on ect. when you do the start with the foot hard on the loud pedal they can take a bit to start.
The key is not lift the foot till it starts, and then do it slowly.

It will need plenty of start voltage too, a jump off a second battery wouldn't hurt.

    Good luck with it mate.
    Cheers, Kyle

Still no dice, cleaned the oil in the harness. The injector loom sat in the metho bath for about 3 days a turned the metho mid-brown. Let it dry for a few days too.

Haven't had much time to do anything as my time has been going bush and again after Easter.

Oh well, ill get the battery charged up and have another go.

Nothing yet she is still in my bay at work. I have put new shocks on the back and went to fit a new fuel pressure regulator valve but it was a pre 2001 component.

Dave, can the fuel pump still provide lower pressure fuel and be the cause of a no start? Its running at the same old sound and tone, I removed and replaced the fuel lines one by one up to where the fuel goes into the head and fuel is being delivered to the top but I am unsure if its enough pressure.

Re-checked the fuel pump, it seems to be working fine.

After having Alien and Mick Marsh come for a visit last weekend they determined it was a knackered fuel pump. Thanks fellas. So I have put in a new pump, after market one, and then there was nothing!! Easy fix new battery. Prime and started in good old land rover fashion.

After a test drive all is well, however my only concern is how much louder the after market fuel pump is over the fair dinkum one. Has any one else fitted an after market pump to a 2003 TD5?

    Cheers Easo
