    300tdi exhaust/inlet gasket

During an oil/filter change today i noticed soot on the block just below the exhaust manifold, i assume either nuts need tightening or its time for a new gasket ? If i just check the nuts for looseness do i need to remove the inlet manifold first as there doesnt appear to be much space for a socket to fit ?

its easier to take the inlet manifold off first but it can be done insitu with a good 3/8th drive socket set with wobble bars and UJ's except for the bolts in the center, you get them with a good single offset ring spanner.
