always start at the easy bit, how old is the fuel filter?. maybe some restriction there?.
Was wondering if the fuel pump is the same as the VN Holden type pump, can the original be replaced with another make pump.
Also the problem seems to be the pump, BUT it may not, here is the scenario.
2000MY Disco TD5 Auto (no CDL), driving up steep Fire Trail (FT) proceed over Eco Drain and continue up next part of slope when engine dies. Not related to inertia switch, turn ignition back on and can hear fuel pump running, sit a while, try starting a few times, no go, fuel pump still audible, eventually starts, till you repeat driving up hill over Eco Drain as before. We got Disco home by stopping on each and every Eco Drain flat spot and allowing to idle for 30 seconds or so, then driving off. Did this for the next 40 klms and no more stalling. Fuel tank was 3/4's full, standard tank.
Any and all ideas on what is happening would be appreciated, esp. about replacement pump (VN Holden Commodore type), Regards Frank.

Liam, I will find out, (Disco belongs to BC0019), problem with filter being problem is that it only plays up as described, runs perfectly well on flat ground, down steep ground and on the highway, normally I would change the filter and water trap and start from there, any notion of whether the holden pump will fit, or not, Regards Frank.
sorry, no ideas on the holden pump. looks about $500 for the original pump from karcraft in sydney.
Hi Frank
I had problems recently with similar symtons -- finally had to bite the bullet and clean out the whole fuel lines in particular the one from the tank to the first filter (particular if the line is lower than the the filter) ,the hose was only allowing a small amount of petrol through,in the end one required the chemical treatment and tne other wire to dislodge the build up.
may be worth a try

The TD5 fuel pump unit has 2 pumps fitted to it. I would say no a VN fuel pump wont fit.
frank, very likely injector lower sealing washers have a gas track from compression gasses, leading to aerated fuel rail and the need to bleed the system after 'working' it up a hill.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
Hello,
Your problem doesn't sound like the pump. Try a new filter first.......
I just brought a new fuel pump for my Td5 from Island 4X4 in the UK it is VDO brand landed here was cheaper than a generic brand here even with postage.
here is the link.
Fuel Parts - Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order.
It was here within the week.
I have been down the road of trying to find a alternative fuel pump or system but when added up better to get this pump.
