    Trailer brakes

My trailer, tub on a RRC Chassis retains the orig suspension, housing and disc brakes. They are set up for hydraulic override but I would like to convert to elec with a controller.

    What are the options.?

Elec solenoid? It it's only worthwhile if I can adjust it ie with a controller.

Any ideas other than replace disks with elec which would be too expensive.

    Electric/Hydraulic Braking

You could utilize an Electric over Hydraulic pump (Dexter) controlled by a Teshonka P3 controller. Fitted this stystem on boat trailer, works well.

How do you implement a park brake with the electric over hydraulic systems?

One noice handbrake idea I read about if you are running vehicle hubs and stubs.
Insert an old axle shaft into the stub axle and weld it at the back of the stub.
Then fit a free wheeling hub to the hub.
When you need a handbrake just lock the freewheel hub. which will lock the hub to the welded axle stub.

Im thinking of incorporating it into the offroad trailer Im about to start for a mate (using hilux bits for 6 stud pattern for a GU tow vehicle.)

Other option is a tap/valve in the hydraulic circuit. Apply hydraulic brakes through the elect over hydraulic unit, turn tap and hydraulic pressure maintained in brake circuit to calipers?

I was informed when I set up my electric/hydraulic brakes (dexter pump running RR front discs and calipers) that the P3 controller does not have a function for electric/hydraulic. I have the P2 controller which has a specific mode for this setup. Perhaps I was misinformed about the P3?

I would definitely be going electric/hydraulic when you have all the hydraulic brake system in place. For one thing, you will never have the problems that magnetic brakes have of vibrating to bits on corrugations. The pumps are not cheap, but shouldn't be too bad from US with the strong AU$. How much do you need a park brake? I've never had one on a trailer.

This is the pump you need:

    1600 Elec/Hydraulic - disc brake - Dexter
