    Best way to clean a Td5 block deck?

    I'm doing a head change on the my Td5 over easter and haven't been able to find any discussion on the best way to clean up the deck of the block. RAVE says to "clean thoroughly".

    There is a tech bulletin on head fretting that suggests using a fine carborundum block to remove gasket residue on the cylinder head, so I guess that might be an option.

    In lieu of better suggestions I was going to do something along the lines of the procedure described in this article as it seems to be pretty low impact, and little risk of damage:

    I was amazed how well this worked using pull action on a ford block deck.

    You wont need extra blades!

    probably a really dumb idea, and it did just pop into my head......I wonder how a good quality sander (festool,rupes) with a very fine grade sand paper hooked up to a vacuum would work. You would have to be very carefull to do even amounts. Only reason Im thinking is those scrapping type things could maybe lead to gouges/scratches???

    Please do not try this....just thinking out loud.

    plastic scrapers for use on aircraft are the go.

    The gurney works

    My tried and true method is a small sheet of glass with a large scotchbrite or brillow pad with lots of elbow grease.
