    KONI shocks

    Hi All
    New here,Looked everywhere and was wondering if anybody knows the closed and opened measurements for Koni heavy track 30-1312SP1? Which are supposed to have a 2inch lift from the standard replacement koni heavy track 30-1312 shock for Defender 110 rear.

    Most use the Heavy Track twin tubes instead.

    30 Series are a mono tube shock and while adjustable, can't be rebuilt or re-valved.

    Thanks Rick130 when you say heavy track twin tubes are you talking about the 88 & 90 series shocks are the 30 series not that good or suit the defender that well off the shelf

    This made me get off my butt and check what I have. I know they are 250mm travel............................

    Turns out they are Pootrol rears 88-1687 listed as 'for high temperature environments' and only on Koni's Nissan Australia list. They need bump stop extensions and mods to fit the top mount.

    Sorry this doesn't help, just made me check what I actually had.

    82, 8240, 88 and 90 are all twin tube, the 8240 are just an 82 Series with 80psi of nitrogen in them.

    Do they really need bump stop extensions ?

    I'm running modified leafy Patrol rears and don't have a problem with them going metal to metal on full bump and IIRC they have 270mm or so of stroke.

    Rick130 what shocks are you running and what is there opened and closed measurments and what mods did you do to make them fit and what mods did you do to the shocks

    MQ/GQ/GU Patrol leaf rears are a straight bolt up, although not ideal.

    You need to run rubber bushes in the top eye, urethane would break the eye off as the eye diameter is too small IMO and the valving is all wrong, generally not enough low speed rebound but the lack of bump gives a nice ride.
    I'm running modified Monroes, I'm using much heavier oil than stock and they are re-gassed.
    They were a temporary 'fix' while I sorted something more permanent, and they've been there for four or five years now

    Toperformance in Melbourne and Proven Products in Albury can build Koni's to suit based on 88 Series bodies.
    Both are Koni importers.

    I'll dig up a recent thread, Serg/Uninformed uses 88 Series from a truck on the back of his 110 ute, although he has leafy Patrol ones on at the moment while he re-paints the Koni's and was going to get them re-valved, but the revalving might be on the backburner for a while now after his engine issues.
