latching switches for D1 spots
So I have a bit of a problem. Finally got around to installing Tim's headlight and driving light loom upgrade. Everything went in fine which is testament to the fantastic instructions with the kit.
The issues started when I tried to use a factory switch to turn the spots on and Off. Reading around I knew I needed a latching switch and went with a front fog switch from a Disco 1. However once wired in the switch won't stay on unless you hold the button in.
Stupid question but will a latching switch stay latched when out of the vehicle and not plugged in? I ask as I grabbed another today from British Off Road and I'm having the same issues. They supplied both and said they were latching but it's just not happening. Could it be my wiring's wrong?

There are two types of fog switches. Not sure what the correct part number is. If it it wired up correctly the orange light inside the switch should come on with the lights irrespective of which switch you have. The correct switch should make a faint click every time you turn it on. If it doesn't they you have the rear fog switch which will not lockon.Hope this helps.
Another way to test is to remove the rear fog switch from the dash and replace it with the new switch.

Cheers I shall try swapping the rear switch in and see how it fairs. It's strange because the orange light comes on when pressed, the dash illumination works on it too, just the bloody button not staying on!
O well, the joys of electrics

If you only have the Mo/Mo switch then get a latching relay instead.
