can you use RRc ABS master cylinder without sensors & ECU.

Just thinking out loud, the 1990s RRc with ABS don't have a vacuum servo but use a compressor on the master cylinder.

Is is possible to use the ABS master cylinder as a normal mastercylinder without the ABS sensors or control ECU, but just the compressor?

Or am I being a muddle headed wombat on this?

How reliable is the mastercylinder unit?

BTW the application is a non-ABS vehicle.

Just to explain further, I want to fit disk brakes to one of my SIIB, yet there is not sufficient room to fit a Defender pedal box and servo/master cylinder unit.

The ABS master cylinder on the 1990s RRc are a rather compact box which is probably small enough to fit on the Series 6cyl pedal box and behind the front panel of the SIIB.

Anyone with experience of the RRc ABS system?

    Hi Diana,

I get what you want to do, and yes it sounds like a good idea. The hydrostatic pressure in the system is controlled by the pump and accumulator, which requires only a power source, pressure switch (Already on the pump) and relays etc to run. the only issue I can see is the pump, they are very exxy and getting a good unit second hand may be a bit difficult. I actually thought of doing this with the 110 as I was really missing the brake pedal feel and efficiency that the classic RR has.
They are very reliable IF KEPT FLUSHED AND CLEAN.

I'm sure you already know but the mounting points/ holes on the bulkhead etc are identical to the standard booster equipped Rangies.
