Just because you had the radiator flushed does not mean its ok. If the previous owner used any additives or stop leak etc in the radiator, they can sometimes set so hard that nothing will clear it. Only way is to buy a new one.

Bad news from the guys at All four x 4 , today. The exhaust valve in #4 pot is burnt out. So here comes a head replacement. Has anyone got any advise or practical experience in doing the job yourself.
Very lucky to have a son in Qld who is a 4wd mechanic, so wanting to get him down and do the job together. Any advise would be greatly received .

How did you get a "all ok " compression test of 120 with a burnt out valve?.this will cause it to miss, but not sure if this would cause all your over heating woes ...Gary
Looks like you have only 3 cylinders doing the work of 4. Thats probably why its overheating on hills.

The vacuum advance was replaced and the dizzy refitted the other day, on the test drive for around 45mins, the temperature stayed below half the whole time. On the way back to the shop the miss fire started, that,s when they went looking at why, compression test then failed.
This same pot had a **** injector replaced 2weeks ago, it was only putting out 10cc not 50. Running lean for some time has burnt out valve. They thing large carbon build up, then we get pot to fire fully and now carbon build up goes and now valve leaks.
Hope this fills in some blanks.
Why do you need to replace the whole head because of 1 burnt out valve, put in a new seat, fit a new valve and seat it in, Regards Frank.
