Traction Control Disable

Having not had my D2 for very long I have not yet off roaded it. I have heard that there are times when it would be better if traction control did not work, an ideal scenario would be to have a cabin switch to turn on and off as needed.

I have been getting three amigos a lot lately, so I am currently in the process of doing "Option B".

This got me thinking. Am I correct to assume that when the amigos are present that TC will not work? (along with HD and ABS)

When doing option B one wire is connected to earth. If I earthed this through a dash switch, would this work as a way of turning TC off? When finished, flick switch, turn motor off, restart and amigos are off.

Slunnie has an ETC override switch from memory, I think it's just a matter of wiring in a switch into the wire that some people cut when installing the CDL.
Not too sure though.
Perhaps have a squiz at UPs CDL install, goes into detail about the wire.
And the whole "some times it's better not having ETC" argument is a load of bollocks IMHO, it's a fantastic system.

After having D2's for 13yrs,well,exactly.

What i do miss, with the D4, is the noise and light when it is activated.

When dad took mine for a test drive on inspection, he got the TC going.

With the 3 amigos illuminated, the ETC will not function on the wheel that is faulting.

I do have a switch to over ride the ETC. Its just an interuption to the wire from the transfer case that illuminates the CDL light on the dash. If you start with the CDL locked, then the ETC becomes disabled. The switched wire just determines if the SLABS computer can see or cant see if the CDL is activated or not.

Like the others have said, there is not a situation where you are better off without ETC. The only circumstance that I know of is when in soft sand and your tyres are not deflated, or not deflatd enough.

Even then it's not an issue, I ran 40psi (roughly) on all my tyres in soft sand and didn't have an issue
