    300tdi oil return line ARRRRGH!!!!!

After getting my head on and back together I had a test start today. after a few cranks it started up and was idling beautifully looked around the top for any signs for leaks and it all looked OK. Went to go for a victory lap and decided to look under the car to find it leaking out its precious oil.

first i thought it was the head but upon looking into it found the turbo oil return line leaking. It must of split when i took the manifold off.

Anyway can i unscrew the line from the fitting that goes to the turbo or do i have to tempt fate and try to unscrew the likely seized bolts on the turbo. Also I'm due to do the Gib river road on the 3rd of may so a replacement pronto will be difficult.

Hopefully someone will say yes you can unscrew the hose part then ill go to the hose place tomorrow to get one made up.

I think you'd need to take the exhaust manifold off and undo the bottom oil return line fitting so you can remove it from the vehicle. Only way you'd get good access to the two bolts that hold the return line on at the turbo end. Might be able to do it in place but would be a ****** of a job.

There is a gasket to replace at the turbo end of the return line as well.

Only a 30 min job doing the above so not hard.

My turbo had done 300k kms and the bolts werent an issue so hopefully you'll find the same. Hardest part of the job was undoing and doing up the lower return line connection. When refitting you have to connect the oil return to the turbo first, then the block and then bolt the manifold up to the head.
