brake vac pump
How much does a wabco vac pump suck ?
I recently replaced my old vac pump ,as I was only getting about half power.
The new one only lasted 50km then lots of ratteling & no brake power .
Pulled it off again to find the piston moveing freely ,no resistance at all .
Fitted onother new one ,worked fine ,full boost ,as did the first one , then a short time later ,aprox 150km ,I only have boost at road speed ,not at low speed or idle .
Disconnected the hose at the booster unit & checked for vacuum ,at idle ,I can just feel a slight vacuum on the hose with my finger or tongue , but only slight .
Has this pump also failed or should I be looking for another problem?
In between the two new pumps I refitted the old one, for aprox 500km while waiting for the second new one , and it worked fine at all speeds albeit at reduced power .
Any advice would be much appreciated .

The vacume increases dramaticly with revs , by feel only , no vac guage.

That seams to be a big problem once the original wears out. I have heard that the Bearmach units are alot more reliable. Hope you find a good fix soon. This thread has a few different ideas. 300Tdi Vacuum Pump

It does seem like the wabco ones are a problem at the moment.
You'll note in that thread my positive experience with the karcraft product and also the recommended use of more than one gasket when installing to increase clearance on the cam.
Hope it works out for you
