    need advice on painting

while i am waiting for a few dollars to rebuild a dead engine i am rebuilding (note - NOT restoring) my 1961 Series 2 SWB - stripping doors, tailgate, etc and de-rusting and generally tarting it all up again.

I want to paint it properly in its origonal green (some knob painted it Army olive drab - it's not ex military)and although i have sprayed many things in the past, i haven't tackled a car before. Has anyone any advice on what paints, undercoats, etc to use.

    cheers

Have spray painted a previous four wheel drive that I once owned. Enamel paint is the easiest to work with and most likely what the landy was done in originally. Most car paint shops will help you with advice. The under coat will be enamel. With the enamel topcoat paint use a enamel hardener as well. As a optional finish coat you can use a clear coat. Will help preserve the top coat.

Myself and a mate painted my old TA23 celica in white enamel with a little hardner, finish was excellent straight out of the gun. We spent 2 days going over all the small repairs and painted it outside on a nice warm still day.
It look great for 9 months till my little brother wrapped it around a tree.

Most likely the green you'll need is:

    Deep Bronze Green BS-381C-224
