    300 tdi lift pump bypass

Hey guys, I went to start the disco last night no go so I removed the hose going to the filter cranked the motor and I had no fuel pumping so I guess the lift pump is shot.

I tried gravity feeding the bosch unit and it fired up straight away, I want to install an electric pump so the question is whats the best way to bypass the lift pump.

I've only had a quick look in the dark last night is the plastic hose okay to cut and sleeve over with rubber hose and clamp or should I remove the pipes from the pump and use barb fittings?

I will be having a proper look this afternoon just enquiring so I can get parts on the way home.

    Cheers

Just cut the plastic hose and clamp rubber hose over the top.
Definitely works fine on suction and return lines as thats what I have on my County.

Haven't actually tried it on a pressure line, but I'd expect it to be OK as it will only be with low pressure (5psi ?). If that concerns you make the rubber hose a bit longer and put 2 hose clamps on it.

I just looped a rubber hose from both outlets on the old pump fully bypassing it. Or is it better to still go through the old pump?
