    Inline Thermostats

My Citroen has no thermostat fitted. That's how they left the factory.

The handbook suggests retarding the ignition (via the dash mounted control) on cold days until it gets up to temp. Well, merci beaucoup for that! But, on a cold Bellarine day it struggles to get to 50 deg C. That can't be healthy.

Does anyone have any experience with these thingys:

Has anyone found one locally? I don't want to buy from the US. I'm not impressed with UPS. I think thy learned their trade from Somali pirates.

They aren't shipping via UPS. They say USPS (US Postal Service). I've never had a problem with the USPS, very quick and reliable and not excessively priced unlike Austpost - although I think they have recently upped their prices.

A lot of US sellers won't ship internationally as it means they have to go to the PO for the Customs declaration. For domestic mail under a certain weight, they can print out a postage sticker, put it on the parcel, and then put the parcel in their mailbox to be picked up by the mailman.

    No don't...

It will cavitate the pump and boil the thing!

The bypass needs to be tied back into the return hose...

I thought about one of those in hose thermostats when I paid lots to have a thermostat housing machined into the front of the Thor manifold on my ex RRC.
However you would need a bleed hole to ensure that the buffer of cold water in the top hose was replaced by hot water as the engine warmed or have a bypass to the heater which starts at a stub right next to the engine side of the thermostat so that hot wtaer gets to act on the theromstat.

Have you looked at a Peugeot 504 thermostat?
They fit into the top hose.
