    well, just goes to show that you shouldn't believe everything you hear, I stand corrected and reeducated! Still believe WD stands for water dispersant

    Many years ago an old boss of mine told me that if I was going to store my spanners for any length of time to place the spanners on a rag soaked in ATF.
    Works a treat.
    Never used it as a penetrent but will make some up for the shed.

    If you check the WD40 website they claim it was the 40th recipe that Rocket Chemical Company made that did what they wanted.
    Eventually the company became called WD40.

    I also use it as a gun oil. Wipe the bores of all my guns with it including blackpowder ones. Works well.
