Thread: Heat wrap for defender exhaust. Questions...

    Any moisture will be evaporated off as I see it also will back your comment I have had my wrap on my 4" for 3yr's before I replaced with new stuff no more rust then you would have without

    Will aid in the cooling as it moves the heat further down the tube

    I have wrapped stainless headers without any issues what so ever but the mild steel headers become extremely brittle after a while to a point where I've sen them literally flake apart.
    Something to do with the carbon content perhaps?...I'm no expert though just passing on what I witnessed with my own eyes a few years back on a Nissan Patrol.
    I don't think it has anything to do with water/moisture either....but the steel seemed to made of 'layers' as it fell apart

    I am clueless one way or another but what you describe, is the result of over wrapping an exhaust according to the article I read.
