    Light bar glare

I'm looking at getting a 24" led light bar and fitting it under the front of my roof rack on a D1 disco. My concern is in regards to the glare on the bonnet as some report...wouldn't it be possible to make a fit a " shield" from under the light bar that would cast a shadow on the bonnet only ??.leaving the rest of the light unaffected ..I want it behind the bar to get over the darkness behind the bar on tight winding track/ road.i.e looking through side window to pre empt track direction. Thanks Gary

what about fitting the bar just a little bit further back under the roof rack and use the front of the roof as a deflective shield..some people do this.

I have a blacked out bonnet but I'm thinking not going to be good enough for a 24" bar those lights will be BRIGHT!

Is the glare really THAT bad? I only ask as I don't know but if it is then I'm sure there will be some kind of adjustment in the light bar.

If you want a cheap quick fix I'd say electrical tape over part of your lens then you can set the shadow wherever you like.

If you need to, yes you can fabricate a bracket easily enough.

I have mine mounted between the front support legs of the full length Front Runner roofrack on the D4. This is far enough back that I do not get any glare on the bonnet (and yes - the lights are "that bright" that the glare will be excessive if you mount it too far forward).

By mounting between the roofrack legs, I was also able to use the bolts that secure the legs to the actual roofrack to mount the LED bar - didn't need any additional bolts / holes.

The only glare that I got was off the telephone aerial mounted on the bullbar. It's a black aerial but with a gloss finish, and the glare off this was very annoying. Fixed it by putting some matt black heat shrink over the section of the aerial that the glare was reflecting back from.
    Cheers .........
