    usually no, rings that have gotten sticky dont come properly good again without some pretty severe treatment that I really dont reccomend for a TD5.

    stuck ring?

    Just wondering how you got on? It sounds almost identical situation to where I am at at the moment.Discovered top ring on no4 in mine stuck on weekend. If it is a stuck ring, you might have noticed different soot/burn pattern in bore when you had the head off. I dropped the bearings adn pulled the pistons yesterday and the stuck ring was REALLY stuck. It wasnt ging to soak out. Also a little scoring on the piston on the side where the ring was stuck, so its a new piston for me- and rings and bearings for all now that we are at that stage.

    I got compression up to 200PSI from 150PSI on No1 with 7 days of soaking in ATF and hand cranking the engine every night to soak at different points in the cylinder. I am and going to get the rest of the car to point where i can drive it and take it for a long hard drive and see if it gets better. (i dont hold much hope) I am currently mentally preparing myself for engine removal and bottom end rebuild of sorts. Blow by is pretty bad in its current condition so i am fitting a provent also... Ill let you know how it goes in the new few weeks.

    Yeah spraying water into a diesel at revs doesn't sit well. What other tricks do you have?
