Locking Engine Via Aut wading plug TD5

    HI All

Sorry Title should be Auto Wading Plug whole.

I have one of the proper locking tools

I use the big one in the threaded whole in the bell housing and it is a perfect fit. when I turn the motor over on the balancer bolt I can feel the pin contact with the fly wheel but it doesn't seem to want to lock into a slot. Is there a trick.

I am removing the Harmonic balancer and trying to avoid making a tool to bolt onto the balancer itself when I already have this locking took.

    cheers

There is only 1 hole in the flywheel for the bolt to engage. Remove the bolt and use a small screw-driver to locate the hole then fit the bolt. You may need to rock the shaft back and forth a little to get the bolt to line-up exactly.

Edit: On second thoughts, that bolt is only meant to be used to set the camshaft timing and is not likely to be strong enough to lock the crankshaft to loosen or tighten the front pulley.

Took the starter out and put a socket extension into the whole in the fly wheel. Worked a treat. Matt
