Maybe we're expecting too much out of what really is a smallish motor allready pushing 2 tonnes. Just because it's a v8 doesn't mean it's powerfull.

Depends where the leak is originating, the breather is sealed with o rings and easy to replace.
If you have oil running down the block and dripping, it is more likely to be valve cover or vacuum pump
Clean and degrease, then check where leak is coming from

I had oil showing up in the air filter which was a worry. Replacing the cyclone fixed it. I had previously done the suction test to make sure the diaphragm in the cyclone was sealing ok, which it was.
