Turner heads. We recently had one delivered - took 48hrs form time of order to delivery. Lots of choices on website.
Wondering if anyone has purchased, here or overseas, a New "Bare" 300TDi head.
I believe they have valve guides and seats installed, can anyone give me an Idea of what it cost to have the seats and old valves machined and did you use the old valve stem (lash) caps or did you fit new caps. Thanks in advance, Regards Frank.

I purchased one from paddocks a while back. They were the cheapest I could find at the time and came complete including valves. the only thing I needed to swap over were the injector posts.
I was looking to buy a Bare head so as I could do a bit of port work (matching/flowing) and was wondering what it costs nowdays to get your old valves machined and the seats cut. Recently there have been posts on the forum about problems with "New" lash caps chewing out and I intended to use my valves with their corresponding lash caps to avoid having to use new caps. I have no idea of the quality of the valves and springs fitted to these New aftermarket heads, any comments there. Also noted (on eBay and suppliers web-sites) that the laminated metal head gaskets are to be used with these heads otherwise warranty is void, any info will be appreciated, Regards Frank.
Further to above, one seller on eBay sells a bare head only for around $500 with $190 postage, same head with valves and springs, complete with gaskets and bolts for around $950 with $75 postage and only a few days to a week difference in time to receive, what's happening there, Regards Frank.
I bought the performance one from Turners, not sure if it improved performange by 8-10 Hp though. Was delivered in under a week, all in good condition. They supplied an Elring composite gasket in the fitting kit, it's been in for a couple months and hasn't exploded or anything.
I paid ~GBP 300 for the head I mentioned above, plus about 90GBP postage for the head plus a whole pile of other parts. IRC at the exchange rates at the time all parts came in at $650AU landed. The kit came with a metal gasket but that was my error in ordering, no requirement that I could see. Was at my door within a week of ordering.
Then about 5000 km later, the NEW viscous hub started playing up (when towing the boat of course...) which resulted in coolant pressurisation and the head off again.
A head shop charged $500 to clean, skim and re-lap the valves. They said the head was good quality in their opinion. If I had my time again I may have just bought another new head!
Many of the (genuine!) lash caps had been worn away (in 5000 km), however I think the problem was due to an undersized oil feed hole in the head gasket.
Hi
Get in touch with Marcus Hiam (hymie on here). I am fairly sure he purchased one recently ex-UK.
Cheers,

Mike, thanks sent Hymie a PM, regards Frank.
Send Rangieman a PM too. I know he fitted a new AMC head to his Tdi300 motor late last year.
I now have that motor in my Disco 1 (courtesy of another 99 crank lunching itself)
