    Question TD5 engine change

    G'Day Gang,
I am going to change the motor in my 2000 model Defender 130 TD5.
I have been told that the replacement motor will not run until the ecu has been set for the injectors. I live 90km from any service agent so this will be an inconvenience if I have to get the vehicle shipped to town.
What options do I have to get around this issue?

    Cheers
    Dennis

Take the ecu out of the vehicle and to town, not the whole vehicle. you will already know the injector codes and their position. Alternatively try and get hold of a member with a nano com (or similar) to come to you and reprogram the ECU. Try the members with diagnostic equipment thread for a list of potentially helpful persons.

    AFAIK those are your options.

When I helped a mate change the TD5 in his Disco we just started it up and drove it to a LR mechanic to give it once over and change the codes. It did run a little rough but not to bad.

    Cheers, Jurgens.

it'll run on almost any injector set (assuming the injectors are OK) the injector coding only accounts for about the top 2% of your power and is more to do with overall economy and emissions.
