    Performance Chip

    Hi,

Ihave a 1994 Discovery Series 1 V8i and was looking for some advice on the ‘PerformanceChip/Module’ (sold on line) will it really help to boost the hp, torque, improvedthrottle response and other stuff, or is it just a waste of time?

Find snake. Extract oil. Use oil to lubricate seller's bottom. Insert chip up seller's bottom.....

Joking aside, there are a few owners on here that have used them. However, in a 19 year old V8, you will be better off doing a full maintenance program before even thinking about it. Bee Utey's Bosch ignition module conversion, injector clean/change, compression test to see if your rings are stuffed, take a look at cam and lifter wear.....

A Rover V8 will only become a ball of fire with some heavy duty attention, it'll never be neck snappingly quick.

The simplest go-fast enhancement on a D1 involves a 9/16 spanner and a timing light. Loosen the distributor and set the advance to 10 degrres BTDC at idle. Feel free to chip a fingernail in the process.

Cleaning your mass air flow meter (MAF) can help too. Use dedicated MAF cleaner spray, with due care.

My ignition module upgrade can help lots if your spark is unwilling.
