Just thinking out loud. Since the front is pin/pin and since Ben said it would almost be ok to have no rear shocks, why not fab up rear shock mounts so you can run 1 shock all round. That is, the exact same shock front and rear. That way if you are overland and have a shock failure you can pinch one from the rear????

That is not a bad idea.
Particularly as, due to the coach body, the clearance between the shock mount and the body is so tight that the previous owner had to cut the suspension bushes to get them to slide onto the pin.
I will look at making some eye to eye mounts to be a direct bolt on replacement.

Thats probably why the PO of my chassis made the rear top mount as in my previous post. It is pin/ pin all round now, fronts and the 2 rears.

I was doing some playing around/dreaming this afternoon. How much clearance is there on the rear mounted front shock at full lock? I put my stock 110 on 130 rims, 235/85R16, on full lock and there was bugger all room to drop a shock in there with the calliper and what not. Im looking at mounting it on the front now. I would prefer the rear of the axle.
