    Engine Make

    Hi
    I have just bought a 1998 Freelander 2 litre turbo diesel. How do I find out the make of engine.

    You will find it is a BMW,both petrols were MGB ROVER.

    It will be a Rover L series Diesel in a 98 model. BMW diesels weren't fitted until 2001.

    It is not a BMW - you are thinking of the TD4 diesel that replaced the L series.

    It is amazing what you find if you just googles Freelander L series diesel

    Note that the L series is the daddy of the TD5 which is not commonly know - many people incorrectly think the TD5 is also BMW which it is not.
