    Valve Spring Compressor for 300TDi

Has anyone got this special tool for compressing valve springs on a 300TDi head, "normal" Valve Spring Compressors (VSC) don't work on this head (no wonder most mechanics are loath to work on Land Rovers).
Seems I can modify/manufacture an extension that would work with my normal VSC, has anyone made this mod up, if so any tips would be appreciated, or can I buy this bit (or borrow) from somewhere, Regards Frank.

Have you tried something like these? Valve Spring Compressor Universal Overhead Ampro NEW | eBay

I've used this type succesfully for doing my valve stem seals.

No I haven't tried this tool, did you have any trouble with space around the valve spring, the 300TDi has limited room.
Anyway I found an old whitworth socket and ground about 5mm (depth) out of the end, enough for the valve spring retainer to fit snugly in. Then cut a window in side of socket to allow fingers in to place valve collets after compressing the spring, bit fiddly but worked OK, will post up a pic later, thanks for the reply, Regards Frank.

Frank, I have a similar one to the one Nobby linked to, and it works fine on a Tdi head where I've done the stem seals in situ too.

I used to use a bench mounted spring compressor back when I was racing, can you fab a lever up at all ?

Done the next best thing, see above, used it with my standard (fits every car on the planet, except Land Rover tool) VSC, worked OK, bit fiddly, Regards Frank

Ahh, but I would find a good use for a 5/8 or 11/16 sockets, but not this old flaky chrome 3/8W (I think) socket, gave it a new purpose in life, great minds think alike, Regards Frank.
