    Defender bullbar tidy up

    Hello People.
I have just remove the bullbar off our Defender to tidy it up prior to selling the vehicle.
Its the OEM ARB bar fitted to Extremes, the powdercoating is peeling and fading. What is the best way to clean it up/remove it???? Wire wheel on a grinder???? I do have a small sand blaster that runs off a air compressor.
    Thoughts/ideas please.
    Thanks
    Andrew

Done a few just sand the affected area , Then give the bar a sand with some fine sand paper to rough it up then spray with a pressure can of satin black .
    They come up like new

Ever wish you didnt start something????
Went over the think with the wire wheel and removed all the loose flaky powdercoat. Then sanded it all over 200/400/800 then 1200 grit.Wasnt that happy with the job but decided it would do.Got the air compressor fired up to dust it off, then find the air gun was lifting more powdercoat
Got the sand blaster out, waste of time.Wire wheel again, would only touch freshly lifted powder coat
Only had lacquer thinners and acetone in the shed, gave them ago. They both do a very good job, providing you keep the surface wet, they evaporate too quickly.
Anyhow 90% of the powdercoat is off, going to get some gell type paint remover or gasket remover tommorow to finish it off.

I got a can of gasket stripper today. Its the ducks nuts, disolves the powdercoating really well.
    Beware,its expensive($27.50) and quite toxic.

Yeah, i stripped a roof rack that was powdercoated. What a nightmare - so hard to get off back to bare metal. It was paint stripper, scraper and wire brush on a drill- took ages. Good luck
