Hydraulic PTO on LT230 transfer box

I have a Defender Td5 130 2000 model with hydraulic winch driven from the power steering pump....this is pathetically slow and underpowered.
I have seen a kit with pto and pump that fits on the LT230R on Ebay but this LT230R is the early transfer box.
Has anyone fitted a kit to the later model TD5 transfer box?
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

I was thinking about this the other day I wonder if you could use the ACE pump off of a TD5 Discovery??
This would just bolt into place on the engine not sure what the flow rate needs to be

"The fluid flow varies with the engine speed and the rotational speed of the central shaft. The pressure felt at the actuator, created by the flow from the pump, is controlled by the pressure control valve in the valve block.
    The pump has a displacement of 8.5 cm 3 /rev and an operational pressure of 135 bar (1958 lbf.in 2 ). The pump output flow ranges from 7.0 l/min (1.85 US Gallons/min) at 775 rev/min to 9.25 l/min (2.44 US Gallons/min) at 7625 rev/min."

Sorry think it might be a dumb idea

Flow rates are too low really. If you want the PTO for the LT30 you'd better win lotto or be sitting down when you hear the price.

There is not much room around that engine that I can see to put another belt driven pump.
I have considered a bigger output steering pump with relief valve to protect the steering box but think the pto would be the easiest option.
Already on the car is a hydraulic winch in reinforced winch bar (but currently mainly a paper weight as inefficient). There have been many times that winches have been used for extensive recoveries on trips so a good setup is a priority.
From what I have read there are two LT230 PTO sets, a LT230R and LT230T.
Yes, expensive, just over $2000. It would cost me approx $1000 to change to an electric unit so I am prepared to invest the extra money for the major benifits of hydraulic system.
Hopefully someone out there has done this already.
    Thanks,
    David

Can't be 100% sure, but I thought that any PTO setup would work on both, the plate that goes on the back is the same size on both and has the same bolt pattern. Early one had gaskets and the later ones didn't, but I think it should fit, but it is a lot of money to spend without knowing for sure.

    Hopefully someone can clarify that?

We used to run a PTO hydraulic winch on a 110 for Rally Recovery in the UK. They were still not common, but more so over there.. Maybe try on a forum or website there... There's an alli housing kit on Ebay, but as you say, it only fits the 'Lt230 R'... Thought the PTO outlet was the same on both R and T. Overdrive's fit either.....

Also just found this on another thread here (by typing LT230 PTO into Google). Not sure how to link this thread to that one, so here's a screen shop of the important bits!

The LT230 R & T are just designations of bearing types used. Roler v tapered.

    PTO should work in either

Could your transfer case be an lt230q?

I cant help you with the T or R and fitment of the PTO. I would call M R Automotive and ask, also get a price from them, they may be competitive?

I can say that IMO you want to find out the specs for the motor on the winch and design your system around that. Lets say it can run 60l/min. Then you are going to want a pump that can supply that. Make sure ALL the components will also flow this 60l/min. That is all hoses, fittings, filters valves etc

You will probably need the following:

PTO, pump, reseviour tank, filters, hoses, pressure relief valve, control valve, hyd fittings.

    Good luck with it.
