Bloke I used to work with, fitter/mechanic, reckons that some mechanic must have slept with an engineers wife once, everything after that has been payback.

    messy filter change

Hi there tonic,I use a 2Lt coke bottle with the top carefully cut off squeeze it up under the filter after you give the filter its first bit of movement then undo with your hand and carefully drop it into the bottle have a clean rag at hand to wipe remaining drops of oil off of the axle.P.s there is a product on ebay for sale that goes on before the filter that has high strength magnets built into it then you fit the filter onto it.problem solved. why is it that land rover engineers have a perchant for making oil changes that ensure oil runs down your bloody arm!

I used the Bushie (Martyn) method: a 2 litre milk container with the bum cut off. It fits around the filter nicely and you can unscrew the filter after loosening it.

Cut a 2 litre plastic milk "bottle" to the right length, lid on, slide it up over the filter, unscrew and let the whole lot drop into the bottle.
If you're careful you can extract the whole lot without spilling any.
