300tdi injection timong
Can someone explain timing by plunger lift please?
I have recently looked at this while looking for a problem which turned out to be the lift pump.
I am measuring lift at No 1 tdc of 0.56mm
I have been reading on here that lift should be ~1.56mm.
I don't have the tool, but I am using a magnetic stand, takes a bit of stuffing around to get it lined up properly, but I think it is ok. Hope so after 40 years in the business.
Is there some particular way of setting up the pump?
I can see the plunger moving from zero to 0.95mm max at each firing stroke, with 0.56 at no. 1 tdc.
Engine runs ok, power ok, probably would have been better not knowing.
Now I am losing sleep
