Hi Djam I'm not quiete sure I had a starting problem for a while and have been aerostart to start the vehicle and yesterday I replaced the wiring harness for the injectors under the rocker cover it has made a difference in that it is now starting sometimes without aerostart and I have had a couple people say to me that I should check the fuel line to lake sure that it is not sucking air

Is the pump noisy?
Does the pump run at all?

I assume that you are talking about the pump at the fuel tank when I switch the ignition on it runs for a short while and yes it is fairly noisy

If the pump on the tank is noisy it could be on its last legs, you can purge the system by hitting the throttle pedal 10 times in 10 seconds then walk away and have a coffee.
By doing the purge and it starts normally maybe the issue is related.
Also if you recently changed the fuel filter make sure you don't have 2 O rings stuck on the mount this will cause it to suck air
Also if you had an improvement with the harness renewal did you clean the oil from the red plug on the ECU?
Sorry for taking so long to reply I am on the road at the moment.

also it might help if you fill the fuel tank to the top, faulty pumps often don't show symptoms until the tank level is low

I have just tried the purging and it is still not starting without aerostart I must tell you that when I crank there is just one spot in the crank seems it wants to fire and the most bizarre thing happened yesterday afternoon I stopped and started the engine forty or so times by having s bit of rev on switching off and then on restart immediately after engine was off pumping the fuel pedal on cranking and then all of a sudden went back to doing what it has been doing as in start with aerostart the other thing that I might mention is that the dodgy motor mechanic replaced the fuel temp sensor I think that is what it is called it is on the back of the block on the left side if you are facing the engine from the front and right hand side from the drivers seat and has three copper pipes that go into it

pumping the pedal will do nothing whatsoever, the pedal does not become activated until the engine starts, just leave your foot off the pedal when starting, the Td5 needs a perfect battery, put it on charger overnight and fill the tank then try again
