easy to renew caliper seals
Dont split the caliper halves
Can replace pistons if they are corroded but might be worth checking condition first
Might also be time to replace the flexible brake hoses too
Steve
Morning all
In fault finding a leak around the right rear stub assembly, I believe the rear brake caliper needs replacing/refurbishing.
The left piston is retracted and the right is protruding. The left is 'wetter' than the right, although both disc pads have oil on them (this is recent and the pad thickness is even).
What would you recommend - replace or refurbish? If replace, who has them in Perth, or if refurb, is this a straight forward job? Is there a cost benefit either way?
Thanks in advance,
Martin

Thanks for your reply Steve - it is appreciated. As I couldn't get a kit fast enough, but I could get a new caliper, that's what I did.
The hosing etc is fine and now the brakes are good as well - very happy to be driving my defender again....:-)
Regards
Martin
