DVD/Video in a Rangie (HSE)

Hi All

Has anyone installed a dvd/monitor etc in a range rover ? (either a drop down monitor or head rest monitors).

Interested in discussing pros/cons.

Many thanks

PROS: Good entertainment. Will impress Japanese girls, IF you can get them into a British car in the first place.

CONS: Expensive. Other LR owners likely to call you various names. Won't work off road when disc skips anyway. Not that you'll be watching it while driving - will you ?! 8O

Money better spent on cool stuff that's useful off-road.

Just before I left Bunbury one of the local sound shops was doing a rangie over.

Drop down DVD mounted just behind the drivers veiw in middle of the roof.
Aslo a full set of new speakers and a nice big sub.

Also fitting a GPS system with real time tracking, the ones you can watch while you drive and see where you are not.

The guys said it was the worst fit they had ever done,
Dash isnt just one peice and the time it took just to get the car ready for an instal was huge.

Then it all had to fit back in as well.

Took 3 days for the job to be done right.

This sounds a lot but the guy wanted it to all look factory fitted.

Don't get me wrong - I'm sure all this stuff is very nice unless you have that type of four wheel drive that actually likes to get amongst the dirty stuff.

The truth is that MOST 4wd's sold will never even see gravel let alone a bush track with overhanging branches and mud deeper than your knee's.

It is only a very small % who use a 4wd as a 4wd.

Sad but true.

Aren't those overhanging branches fun in a fourby that is as high as a Defender ?

Note: This officially replaces the old nomenclature "high as a kite".

My Disco sits higher than stock Defenders and the branches are great fun.

Even clip a few around town here.

A disco as high as that only higher ?

That's got to do wonders for the centre of gravity 8O

Why not get a roof rack and fill it with jerry cans full of fuel and spare tyres. Any heavy stuff you can find.

Now THAT will make life exciting
