One for the pneumatics / air compressor people

Apologies for my terminology not being correct and for non-standard symbols on my quick sketch but…

Is there a kind of in-line pressure activated switch that can be installed in an air line / hose that can be used to switch a compressor on/off when it detects that a vale is open or closed? Or one that can be connected to an air line via a T-piece or something?

ie, when the valve is closed and the pressure in the pipe goes above a set level the switch opens and stops the power supply to the compressor, and when the valve is open the pressure drop in the pipe is detected, the switch closes and powers up the compressor.

I know similar pressure switches exist to be used in conjunction with air tanks but they screw in to the tank and are not in line (aren’t they?)

Do such devices exist? I’m sure they must do but since I don’t know what they are called or what they look like it is a bit difficult to search for them. And Googling “in line air pressure activated switch thingo” isn’t helping me much.

    Thanks in advance!

There's no point worrying about a switch being "inline" if all you are doing is monitoring pressure. Fit a "Tee piece" in the line and run a new line to a pressure switch mounted somewhere convenient, it will work as you desire.

Agreed, before I read BU's reply I was saying the same, just a tee-peice with the switch in that.

    Cool. Thanks for the replies!

I was thinking it would need to go via a T-Piece.

But, what is the actual name of the switch thing? Is it simply an "air pressure switch"? And, other than eBay, where can you get them?

Last time I dealt with any kind of pnuematics was over twenty years ago and I can barely remember any of it.
