FFR Perentie 24V alternator mout same as County A/C compressor?

    Hi All,

Does anyone know I the secondary 24V alt mount is the same as the county A/C compressor? I'm thinking of pulling out the alternator and trying to rig up some cold air. It's not even summer yet and I'm melting in my Survey panel van ( it doesn't have the tropical roof either).

I'm hoping to be able to use the same belts and idler pulley to achieve this.

I've only ever seen one (and that was just a brief look under the bonnet) but my recollection was that the 24V mount was completely different than the aircon compressor mounts I've seen.

Are you able to post a photo of the 24v alternator setup so that those with factory A/C compressor mounts can confirm? (mine is non-genuine fabricated mount)

The CAV Alternator is significantly different to the compressor mount, however there is no reason that you cant use the mountings and pulleys to make up a compressor mount.

The bands around the CAV alternator have a significantly greater diameter to the sanden type a/c compressor.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Dingsy I am pretty sure the mount is the same item from FFR generator mount to County a/c mount. If you can measure yours up and post the measurements, I will check an original county a/c mount I have here and compare it. The belts, idler pulley and crankshaft pulley are the same.

Thanks everyone - I'll check on the weekend (it's currently living at my parents place) and get the measuring tape out. Thanks, the help is much appreciated.

    Cheers,

I know that the IPV perenties had a different CAV mounting bands to the later production perenties, because we tried to fit a late bracket onto IPV7 and it didn't fit.

    The idler etc are standard.

Goingbush had an interesting solution, he put a minibus air con evaporator on his Milford cargo barrier, check it out here, just before the caravan. Bob

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
