    Lube for aircon O-ring fitment

I've just picked up the repaired aircon hose/pipe assembly along with some new O-rings, I'm going to refit it when the engine is cold and then take the vehicle back to the repairer to get the aircon gassed. I was going to ask the guy for some compressor oil to lube the o-rings but plain forgot when I picked up the pipe. Way back in the day when I used to fit automotive aircon units, we used stuff called sunsoil or densoil (proprietary names for compressor oil), I don't have any of this and would prefer not to have to buy some just to lubricate 6 o-rings. I seem to recall that it was inadvisable to use vaseline for the purpose. Does anyone know if there's something common (i.e. that I will probably have in the shed) that is a suitable substitute to lubricate aircon fittings for assembly? Something like auto trans fluid, silicon spray, brake fluid, veg oil?

use the oil that the compressor uses.
these days you should steer toward synthetic automotive PAG oil. its often claimed that modern oil coates the suface so you don't need extra oil

mistake is since you got the hose off or it lost its gas charge, would you not flush out the dirty moist oil and add new oil-up end the compressor.denso compressors come of easy-and the sanden units always are short of oil.dryer don't like moisture.

the brands of oil refered to are still around and recommended by reconditioned compressor sellers. they refer to the old mineral or easter oil R12 systems used.so I don't know why you bother unless its a hugh commercial unit.

the amount of oil you use to lube the oring shouldn't react with much.
snowy vasolene is ok.in the real world.
there is lube and sealing products-someone will make anything you want.

I hadn't considered the need to drain & refill the compressor. Maybe I should buy some of the special oil and do that. I don't relish mucking around with the serpentine belt though.
Not sure what you mean by PAG oil. Are we talking about synthetic engine oil?

EDIT: just googled PAG oil. Does anyone know the correct amount and viscosity PAG oil for the PUMA a/c system (2008 defender 130 2.4tdci), or where I might find this out?
