			disco front wheel bearings???

well x mas eve stuck on the side of the road outside brisbane
aint the place to be, but it was for me.
so the question comes after installing new wheel bearings on the
drivers side. how many seals are there in a front hub of a 1993
LR disco non abs 3.5v8? at the mo there is only one at the rear,
and nothing at the front of the hub? only way the greese stays in is by the axle flange gasket and the axle cap (rubber end cap).
 :? :? :?

					8) i sent you a pm re email's dw so the piccies can confuse you 8) harry
as for stopping ingress of water, i think its not possible in any marque, not just land rover, look at boat trailers, as soon as the hub goes under water it is cooled, cooling reduces the pressure inside the hub, thereby causing the liquid {ie water} to be drawn in, wot stuffs the bearings.
only in cars we usually travel long enough to boil the water off out of the grease, and we don't sit our axles under water for ten minutes stationery while we mess with the boat, so cars get away with. but where does the salt go? well it ain't boiled off, it just sits around eating the bearings and reducing the grease.
 8) it ain't easy to play in the wet with out maintenance
have fun, don't change the other bearings on the roadside
God i sound like bossy boots tonight!!!

Water ingress is greatly reduced by having open breathers terminated in a small petrol filter to stop dust.
As I said earlier a zip tie around inner edge of cap will seal it and hold it on.
