    Boost gauge boost pick-up

I've bought a chinese boost gauge from ebay. I hooked it up tonight using the boost line that run into the injector pump.

For some reason I only seem to be getting 5-6 psi on the gauge, yet the disco has never been lacking in performance (well, as much as you'd expect anyway).

Is the pick up good enough for a boost reference?

Have you driven the car or are you testing for boost in neutral in the driveway?

Ahhhh, very good! I suspect that could be the problem, but I couldn't see how it could be! the pump boost line comes directly from the actuator line, unless if does something weird behind the engine.

I think I'll tap a hole into the inlet manifold.

It's a pain in the bum, as I cut the line, so I'll have to buy a joiner or something now...

the thing is, it's WAY out, like it's missing 10psi!

oh well, I'll install a fitting into the inlet manifold and read off that...

    Success!!

I tapped a new hole in the inlet manifold and re-routed all the hoses, so the turbo actuator and IP diaphragm get boost reference from there rather then the turbo outlet and I used the old hole off the turbo for the boost gauge...

Boost varies from about 15-17psi at full load...

...now to fiddle with the actuator shaft and get 20psi!!
