    D2 Td5 Radiator to Expansion Tank Line.

    Hi all,

    My father has recently purchased a D2.

    We were having a look over it this morning and it seems the line from the radiator to the expansion tank have been blanked off.

    By putting a small screw in the radiator tank and a bung in the over flow tank.

    Has anyone heard of doing this? I think the best think to do is to return it to the factory set up.

    Cheers Ben.

    Hi Ben , Probably because that stupid brittle plastic hose was broken so the blanked it off due to price. You can just go to repco or a bursens etc and get a rubber hose that diameter and fit that.
    regards, Mario

    An important part of the system, the radiator bleed pipe & hose. From RAVE;
    " Excess coolant created by heat expansion is returned to the expansion tank from the radiator bleed pipe at the top of the radiator. An outlet pipe is connected into the coolant pump feed hose & replaces the coolant displaced by heat expansion into the system when the engine is cool "

    Can you find out how long the pipe has been blocked off, can not have been doing the system any good. That hose hardens up from the heat, & cracks. Just a tip, check the secret hose, from the oil cooler, another hose that is effected by heat. Bob
    I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

    A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    The replacement pipe ( part PCH000360 ) is pretty cheap - $35 tops if bought from a local supplier.

    The new pipes are surprisingly flexible. They come supplied wound up into a 30cm diameter package.
