If you had to degsin a Brand New Land Rover model, what parts would you plagerise?

With people trying to fit patrol diffs and toyo shockers etc etc etc to improve the reliability of Land Rovers.
If you had to design a new Land rover model what parts from other makes would you use to make the ultimate Land Rover as a stock vehicle.
Ie , use a nissan gear box or a front end off a ????? the engine out of a chev that sort of thing

Remember stock parts, not modded hi lifts etc, just for the sake of reliabilty

Mercedes Gwagon front & rear ends complete with standard diff locks

might at well throw in the Merc G350 engine, Manual transmission and transfer case from the Merc G-Pro

G wagon has poor wheel travel so we will end there with the merc bits.

Front Suspension from a Jeep Rubicon
    Rear suspension from Defender

Fuel Capacity and A/C from a Landcruiser

all wrapped up in a traditional Defender body and chassis would be just fine,

(oh, and an interior and seating from an Iveco Massif .)

Looking at a new Defender concept I'd go with ....

    - The portal axles available from the G63 6x6, together with the appropriate diff locks.
    - Powertrain would be the Duramax / Allison 1000 6sp combo as per H1 Hummer.
    - The above suggestion about Jeep/LR suspension.
    - Sill tanks added to the stock for added fuel capacity.
    - Chassis/body would be 110/130 Defender type, wagon & ute.
    - Interior cues from SE spec D4.

To maintain the highest possible level of parts compatibility, availability and reliability and to avoid the problem of improving one component and creating a weakness elsewhere, I would use all 300 Tdi Defender parts on my 300 Tdi Defender.

How often do people find that when they change parts, they don't eliminate weak points, they just move the weak point from one place to another?

Personally my ultimate defender would be The Current PUMA - post MY12, with Ashcroft Front and Rear locking Diffs, a Long Range Fuel tank, and that's it. The latest PUMA is the best of them all, and for what it's designed for only needs a few minor tweaks to be even better.

you seen the perentie RSV and RFSV?

Id just open the RPS and get "one each off of every line in the quantities indicated on the line"

    actually scratch that.

do it from the LRPV RPS and CES

I think that people are missing the part in the OP about designing a NEW Land Rover model.

ONLY if the cabin is a good 150mm longer and wider so that 'normal sized' people can fit in.

No! Some us just think they got it right when they built the 300 Tdi, so the new one to replace the current model should be full of 300 Tdi parts.
